Reviews for Transformers One have started to come out, and reactions from critics have so far been mostly positive.

“TRANSFORMERS ONE is by far and away the best Transformers film to date,” raved a critic for Next Best Picture. “Rich in character and emotion with a deep reverence for the lore, it tells the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron, tragically transforming once from brothers to enemies. Josh Cooley directed this animated film to perfection, down to the last comedic and action beat, all backed by an epic score and an excellent voice cast.”

The Hollywood Reporter praised the film’s “gorgeous 3D-style computer animation” which they described as “a wonder to behold throughout.” They also described the story as a “thoroughly entertaining origin story that even the uninitiated can enjoy. Besides the raucous, de rigueur action sequences, Transformers One provides numerous witty jokes of both the verbal and visual variety and – surprise, surprise – genuine emotion. Consider this a franchise revitalized.”

Variety was also impressed, saying, “while still delivering the fun and excitement expected of Hasbro’s metamorphosizing robots, Transformers One approaches the well-known characters with a degree of nuance and complexity that marks the most sophisticated onscreen portrait of them to date.”

“Transformers One is a mesmerizing CGI adventure chock-full of thrilling action scenes, great humor, and a thoughtful script with powerful themes. Raise your expectations, because Transformers One sets a new high standard for the long-running franchise,” lauded MovieWeb.

Comicbook.com praised the “exceptionally strong story,” voice cast and animation, and the reviewer said that “I would be remiss by not calling this the best Transformers film since the 1980s animated film. If this is the future of the Transformers franchise, then Autobot and Decepticons fans have a bright future to look forward to indeed.”

Director Chookiat “Matthew” Sakveerakul embarks on his most ambition project in his 20-year career with “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide”

Spanning a career of twenty years, director Chookiat “Matthew” Savkeerakul is back with his most ambitious film yet with the sci-fi epic, “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide.” “Our time and our daily life—do they really exist? Are we human beings, flesh and blood, biological masses or in fact reflections of something? These thoughts have been inspiring me for a long time and I’ve been looking for an opportunity to turn them into a film,” Savkeerakul explains his inspiration for the film.

Watch the trailer here: https://youtu.be/PWWYkv92IK8

Throughout his career, Savkeerakul has made films that are considered Thai cinema milestones. His 2007 romance film “The Love of Siam,” dominated in all local film events of that year, bagging the Best film awards in every major competition. In “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide,” he pivots into the realm of sci-fi. “To begin with, I love sci-fi movies. Having read articles about the world, universe, space and different dimensions, I find that they’re as mysterious as ghost stories,” he says.

He explains the depth of the world he created for “Taklee Genesis,” and how real-world speculations inspired him for the film. “In the film, the ‘Taklee Genesis’ is an American experiment project during the Vietnam War. The name ‘Taklee’ is because the Taklee district is where the largest US base in Southeast Asia was at the time. There were others too like the ones in Sattahip district and Udon Thani province. I think for such a large base as that in Taklee there must be something else. Recently, there have been many speculations about Taklee’s secrets—for example, extra-terrestrials lived there. Hey, people have talked about these. Check YouTube,” he lightheartedly says.

The casting choices were integral to the story of “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide,” with Paula Taylor, Peter Corp Dyrendal, War Wanarat leading the film. “I worked with Paula and Peter a few years ago. I want Paula to perform in a film because she has a strong cinematic charisma and was a symbol of rom-com in a certain period. She’s also adept and effortlessly sympathetic,” Savkeerakul explains. “Peter also did some research for more background information. He even corrected my mistakes, saying, ‘Matthew, it’s not a million years ago: it’s actually 75-76 million.’ Well, he also made corrections of some details in the script. So nice of him! He’s as geeky as me: he understood everything in the script. I was very surprised how he got it all: he’s also interested in this kind of thing,” he continues.

In the end, Savkeerakul feels like “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide” is an opportunity to broaden the scope of Thai films. “It’s the kind of project I don’t know if I’d ever have a chance to work on again. I realized it’s not easy when I was doing it. It’s another milestone for Thai films. Who else would be courageous and crazy enough to support me to do it? I’m all for it but I wouldn’t call it the acme of my career. I’d rather it be a door which opens opportunities for my more ambitious projects in the future and for those who love sci-fi and challenging film projects to further develop themselves.”

“Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide” takes you on an interstellar journey starting September 18. “Taklee Genesis x Worlds Collide" is distributed in the Philippines by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Discovery company.

BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE Resurrects That Gothic Feeling

By Edgar Allan E. Yu

"Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" is finally here, and it’s everything fans of the original could hope for and more. This long-in-the-works sequel to the 1988 classic brings back that quirky, weird charm that made the first film such a beloved cult hit. You might think a follow-up would struggle to capture the same magic, but "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" manages to do just that—while also embracing its silliness in all the right ways.

What surprised me most was how much I genuinely enjoyed this film. It’s not just a nostalgia trip; it’s a fresh take on some beloved characters and new characters as well. Michael Keaton is excellent as the title character, while Catherine O'Hara is outstanding. And among the new faces, Jenna Ortega is clearly the stand-out. The humor is sharp, and there are plenty of laugh-out-loud moments that remind us why we fell in love with "Beetlejuice" in the first place.

My only gripe is there are too many subplots in this film, and although I enjoyed some of them, most of the new characters were not fully utilized. Monica Bellucci's Delores is sexy and dangerous, but she wasn't given much to do. I would love to see more of her in future Beetlejuice films.

Let’s talk about the soundtrack! It perfectly encapsulates my favorite era of music—the 80s—and adds an extra layer of enjoyment to every scene. From those iconic hits, to that whole Soul Train sequence, they surely enhanced the overall experience and makes you want to dance along.

If you’re looking for a fun escape filled with quirky antics and nostalgic vibes, "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice" is definitely worth your time. It's an early Halloween treat ! So grab your popcorn, sit back, and prepare for a wild ride with the ghost with the most.

REACTIONS ARE IN! CRITICS ARE SINGING PRAISES OF “BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE,” IN CINEMAS SEPTEMBER 4

The wait was worth it.

“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” director Tim Burton’s follow-up to his 1988 classic horror-comedy “Beetlejuice,” had its world premiere on the opening night of the Venice Film Festival on August 28 – 36 years after the first movie was released. The long-in-the-works sequel, which screened out of competition, delighted the audience and earned a nearly four-minute standing ovation for Burton and his cast – led by Beetlejuice himself Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, both also reprising their roles in the original, and new cast members Jenna Ortega, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe.

Watch the trailer: https://youtu.be/4kv5AC2po5A

“It’s truly exciting to see Burton’s return to form, making something both grotesque and funny,” wrote Collider. “He appears to be energized and having fun, something we haven’t seen in quite a while.”

The Hollywood Reporter lauded Burton and the cast: “The zippy pacing, buoyant energy and steady stream of laugh-out-loud moments hint at the joy Burton appears to have found in revisiting this world, and for anyone who loved the first movie, it’s contagious. That applies also to the actors, all of whom warm to the dizzying lunacy.”

In their review, Time magazine wrote, “The movie carries you along on its wriggling magic carpet of mayhem – and features one sequence of creepy-elegant-funny cracked poetry that’s classic, old-school Burton.” They also praised Keaton’s portrayal once again of the ghost with the most and said seeing the actor in full costume again as Beetlejuice was “like greeting a decrepit, kvetching old friend, the kind you keep around just for entertainment value. Michael Keaton clearly adores this character; once again, he pours pure love into Beetlejuice’s maniacal, depraved soul.”

Deadline Hollywood had a great time watching the movie, which they described as “a blast just to watch” and “funny, all the time.”

Empire magazine gave a special mention to Burton’s much-loved “freak flag.” “The film is strongest when it remembers it’s a Tim Burton film and has license to get weird,” said Empire in their review. “While it’s slicker and less homemade-feeling than the 1988 vintage, there are still flashes of B-movie brilliance: a stop-motion animation sequence, some delightful shrunken-head prosthetic effects, and two demented birth scenes with the most ghoulish prosthetic baby this side of ‘American Sniper.’ It’s moments like this, when Burton lets his freak flag truly fly, that ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ earns its stripes.’

In “Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice,” three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River after an unexpected family tragedy. Still haunted by Beetlejuice (Keaton), Lydia’s (Ryder) life is turned upside down when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid (Ortega), discovers the mysterious model of the town in the attic and the portal to the Afterlife is accidentally opened. With trouble brewing in both realms, it’s only a matter of time until someone says Beetlejuice’s name three times and the mischievous demon returns to unleash his very own brand of mayhem. The sequel’s screenplay is by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (“Wednesday”), story by Gough and Millar and Seth Grahame-Smith (“The LEGO® Batman Movie”), based on characters created by Michael McDowell and Larry Wilson.

THE ACTION SEQUENCES IN “TRANSFORMERS ONE” ARE INSANE, SAYS CHRIS HEMSWORTH “Transformers One” rolls out into Philippine cinemas September 18

When Chris Hemsworth signed on as part of the star-studded voice cast for Transformers One, he thought he’d just be sitting in a chair, reading lines.

“The action sequences in this film are insane,” says the actor in a new featurette. “It actually takes a lot more physicality than I first assumed. I thought I’d just be sitting in a chair, reading lines. But I was jumping around and having to throw punches and make noise. There’s a lot of excitement and a lot of fun.”

Watch Hemsworth talk about voicing Orion Pax in the “Chris on the Physicality” featurette: https://youtu.be/NVRpXFurcmQ?si=MMlv_lUaCdDgmiEf

In Transformers One, the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie, Hemsworth voices Orion Pax/Optimus Prime. Transformers One is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. Hemsworth is joined by Brian Tyree Henry (D-16/Megatron), Scarlett Johansson (Elita-1), Keegan-Michael Key (B-127), Steve Buscemi (Starscream), Laurence Fishburne (Alpha Trion) and Jon Hamm (Sentinel Prime).

“Feels fantastic to be officially part of the Transformers franchise,” says Hemsworth in another featurette. “What intrigued me was the origin story. Two best friends that become enemies, and then the birth of a hero.”
