The upcoming series, Black Knight, promises to be an action-packed, adrenaline-fueled adventure that will leave you breathless. The recently released main trailer offers a tantalizing glimpse into a post-apocalyptic universe where the Korean peninsula has become a desert wasteland and only one percent of the population clings to life. The devastated look of Seoul seems outright surreal. 

The legendary deliveryman 5-8 (Kim Woo-bin) works as a lifeline to mankind, delivering oxygen and other necessities in the daytime. At nightfall, however, he transforms into a Black Knight with a plot to upend the order created by Cheonmyeong Group, the de facto ruler of the devastated world. Ryu Seok (Song Seung-heon), the ruthless heir to Cheonmyeong Group, clashes with 5-8 as he defends his vision of a world with no place for the refugees. Seol-ah (Esom), a major at the Defense Intelligence Command, warns 5-8 that chaos may spiral out of hand, while Sa-wol, a refugee who aspires of becoming a Black Knight, boldly climbs onto 5-8's truck, eager to join the fight.

On top of all the drama is the exhilarating action sequences, including heart-stopping car chases on sand dunes, intense firefights, and expertly choreographed hand-to-hand combat. Director Cho Ui-seok aimed to create “more down-to-earth and lively” scenes compared to the original webtoon. While 5-8 plots to overturn the crooked world order, Ryu Seok’s dark ambitions, Sa-wol’s pursuit of becoming a Black Knight, and Seol-ah’s investigation into the sinister secrets of Cheonmyeong’s dirty secrets are all in play. All eyes are on the expansive universe that Black Knight is set to unveil.

In Love Again, Mira Ray (Priyanka Chopra Jonas), a talented children’s book author and illustrator, deals with the loss of her fiancé by sending a series of romantic texts to his old cell phone number. What Mira doesn’t know is that those texts are being received by Rob Burns (played by Sam Heughan), whose new work phone has inherited that old number. Rob, a music journalist, is skeptical about love – it comes with the territory when you are left at the altar. He is struck by the emotional honesty of the texts, which begin just as he is trying to wrap his cynical mind around the heartfelt, emotional music of Celine Dion for a profile he’s been assigned. He finds that the legendary singer just might hold the key to all the answers he’s been looking for.

The filmmakers built the film around the pairing of Chopra Jonas, an international superstar who has commanded screens around the world, as Mira, and Sam Heughan, whose performance on Outlander has inspired a generation of fans, as Rob. 

But perhaps the biggest casting coup for the filmmakers was in landing Celine Dion to play the role of Celine Dion in the songstress’s first big-screen acting role.

“I wanted to find a real artist to embody the character,” says Strouse. “When I thought about Celine’s songs – the content of them and then Celine the person – it was so perfect, because this is a film about overcoming loss and the power of love. She was the first and only choice.”

Dion’s involvement in the movie brought an infectious joy to the entire cast and crew. “It was so much fun,” says producer Esther Hornstein. “We’d play a little bit of one of her songs for a scene, and then all day, we’d all be sitting at the monitors singing Celine. For one scene, Rob is in the shower, so excited about life that he’s singing ‘It’s All Coming Back to Me Now’ – and when Sam would come off the set, he’d still be singing – a sing-along party all day long.”

AIR - Emotional, Inspiring, Powerful

 

AIR is a biopic comedy drama that tells us the amazing story of how a young rookie Michael Jordan got signed on to a struggling shoe company called NIKE. We all know that Jordan ended up getting the deal, but we don't know the datails or the real story behind it - until now! Sonny Vaccaro (Matt Damon) studied videos of Jordan playing basketball in high school and realized he had the potential to become a superstar athlete. He pitched the idea to his co-workers and C.E.O., Phil Knight (Ben Affleck), and against all odds, did everything he could to make it happen. With the support of his boss, the department heads, and the shoe designer, Vaccaro was able to make an irresistible offer to Mrs. Jordan that would lead to the single greatest deal in basketball history. 

The stellar cast include Ben Affleck, Jason Bateman, Chris Messina, Chris Tucker, and Marlon Wayans, but it's Matt Damon and Viola Davis (as Deloris Jordan) who gave the best performances. The film is now getting some Oscar buzz for next year. And of course, Ben Affleck was excellent as the director. 

This is the first movie under Artists  Equity, which is the new production company spearheaded by Affleck and Damon. 

AIR is a wonderfully written film, told in a semi-documentary style that's both emotional and inspiring. Catch it in cinemas near you.

Samsung collaborates with artist Leeroy New to champion sustainability through art

Renowned contemporary artist Leeroy New on his art piece, Ectoplastic Fantasia, and how artists and brands can work together to advance the global cause of sustainability.  

Samsung continues to highlight its commitment to #EverydaySustainability as they partnered with contemporary artist Leeroy New to create a sustainable art piece for the launch of their flagship line-up, the Galaxy S23 series.

Leeroy’s art installation called Ectoplastic Fantasia was the centerpiece in Samsung’s Epic Sustainability room during the Epic House Event. The installation featured ambiguous forms of marine life made from discarded plastic that lined the ceiling of the room.

On the inspiration behind his newest piece, Leeroy explained, “These prehistoric-looking sci-fi creatures hanging above us right now made out of discarded plastics speaks about how a lot of these end up in our ocean. Having done large scale works, I have learned to think about the life cycles of the materials I use and I have put it on as a personal challenge to strictly use materials that are already available instead of buying new ones.”

Leeroy has been a catalyst in the Philippine art scene with his visions of nature and science-fiction across different fields of theatre, fashion, film, and visual art. Born in Mindanao, Leeroy has created eye-catching works of art to shine the spotlight on the problem of climate change such as his latest piece Mebuyan’s Vessel, made from discarded materials, offering an  

interesting meditation between science-fiction and Bagobo mythology while simultaneously raising the issue of sustainability and the climate. 

Leeroy shared his rationale behind using discarded, recycled materials behind his masterpieces as he sees art as a tool in opening the discussion of sustainability and the state of the environment. 

“Art can be one of the many ways we can address the issue. Art doesn’t necessarily have to represent the problem but it can be a proposal for the solution. Instead of using new materials, I challenged myself to strictly focus on making my works using surplus materials,” New explained.

Leeroy commended Samsung’s efforts of sustainability with the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, underlining how companies can have a big impact in combating climate change.

“I’m in support of big companies who can make a change and move towards a greener and sustainable way of production. Awareness is key. Taking into consideration the effects of mass production on the environment, I’m just happy to support these companies that are becoming more mindful of how they source materials, how they produce things, and their carbon footprint. It’s a slow process but the first step is becoming aware of it and moving towards [sustainability].”

Aside from Leeroy’s installation, Samsung’s epic sustainability room also encouraged guests to make a promise towards creating a greener planet at the Pledge Wall, a digital display where guests can use the S-Pen to write pledges on the wall in real time. Guests were invited to make their own commitments on sustainability by asking them “What can you do for the planet?”

Samsung has emphasized their mission to contribute to global sustainability efforts with the release of the Galaxy S23 Series to meet the urgency of the global climate crisis. Designed with the planet in mind, parts of the Galaxy S23 Series are made of recycled materials. For instance, the front case and back glass of the smartphones are made with 80% recycled PET bottles, 20% recycled, ocean-bound plastic, and 22% recycled glass for its screen. It is also the first Galaxy flagship device to integrate recycled aluminum, used in the side key, volume keys, and SIM tray of the phone. The packaging of the new series is also made with 100% recycled paper.
