MEG 2 : THE TRENCH - More Megs, Better Movie ?

The highly anticipated sequel to THE MEG has finally arrived, and fans are eager to dive into the world of giant prehistoric sharks once again. One of the major highlights of  MEG 2 is the inclusion of not just one, but three megalodons. This addition certainly adds to the intensity and raises the stakes in terms of the threats faced by the characters. Additionally, the appearance of a giant octopus and mini dinosaurs amps up the excitement factor, making the film a visual spectacle for fans of creature features.

While the abundance of these scary creatures in MEG  2 is undoubtedly thrilling, some viewers may find themselves lost in the midst of a convoluted plot. The film introduces numerous subplots and twists that might leave audiences struggling to keep up with all the different threads. As I was watching the first hour of this movie, I kept asking myself - where are the sharks ? All I'm seeing was Jason Statham fighting some humans whom I didn't  care for. I've already seen that in more than a dozen of his movies. While it is understandable to include some interpersonal drama for character development purposes, some viewers may find themselves growing bored by extended scenes of people fighting or engaging in unrelated conflicts.

Fans of this genre were likely hoping for an abundance of thrilling shark action in MEG 2.  However, it is worth noting that the majority of the shark scenes are concentrated in the last 30 minutes of the film. This delayed arrival of shark action may disappoint fans looking for an adrenaline-filled experience from start to finish.

MEG 2 : THE TRENCH presents fans with a mixed bag of thrilling moments and potential drawbacks. The inclusion of three megalodons, a kraken, and mini predators adds to the excitement, but the convoluted plot and excessive focus on human conflict may distract from the overall enjoyment. Additionally, the delayed arrival of shark action might leave fans waiting  impatiently for the final 30 minutes of the film. Ultimately, whether or not MEG 2 lives up to expectations will depend on individual preferences and priorities when it comes to shark-centric films. I've always enjoyed Jason Statham in his action films, but they could have done better with this one.
