In Lucasfilm’s “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” Harrison Ford returns to the role of the hero archaeologist, donning his iconic fedora, leather jacket, and trusty whip one more time in search of one of the most valuable treasures. 

After a lifetime’s worth of adventures, Indiana Jones is ready to live a retired life away from adventure. However, his plans changed after a surprise visit from goddaughter Helena Shaw. She seeks Dr. Jones’ help to search for the Archimedes Dial, a mysterious artifact that can manipulate time. After Helena steals the dial to sell it to the highest bidder, Jones has to prevent it from getting into the wrong hands. This leads him to another journey where he meets old friends, and an old nemesis Jürgen Voller, a former Nazi who wants the Archimedes Dial to help him change the course of world history.

 

Starring alongside Harrison Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, Ethann Isidore, and Mads Mikkelsen.

What has the Lambert family been up to since we last saw them in Insidious: Chapter 2? 

When last we met the Lambert family, astral projectors Josh (Patrick Wilson) and Dalton (Ty Simpkins) had survived multiple trips into The Further. Dalton had been kidnapped by a demon… Josh had rescued him, only to be trapped in The Further while a ghost possesses his body in our world… that ghost, in Josh’s body, had rampaged through his house, trying to kill his family… and Dalton had ventured back into The Further to find his real father and bring him back.

“After the second film, I felt there was nothing more to be done or said or explored with the Lambert family,” says Wilson who, aside from returning as Josh Lambert, also marks his directorial debut with Insidious: The Red Door, opening across Philippine cinemas July 5. “I had saved my son, been saved myself, been possessed; I had gone through just about everything you can do in a horror movie. The biggest question that I asked, and that I wanted to pose to the audience, was what happens to a family after ten years, when you’ve been hypnotized in order to forget your family trauma? 

In hindsight, that’s probably not the healthiest way to deal with trauma: ‘It didn’t happen, you’ll forget this.’ I wanted to unpack that,” Wilson continues. 

In Insidious: The Red Door, the epic conclusion to the terrifying saga of the Lambert family, the story picks up as the original cast reunites for the third chapter in the family’s saga and fifth and final film in the blockbuster horror franchise, following two prequels. Ten years after the events of the second film, Josh and Renai (Rose Byrne) have divorced, as Josh struggles to piece together a life that seems to have major holes he can’t fill. Dalton, now a young adult, is heading off to an East Coast art college, and has a strained relationship with his father.

It’s stilted because of the events that have happened, and they don’t really know why,” says Wilson. “They have missing chapters – holes in their memory – and there’s resentment from Dalton’s side. Two men who can’t quite express their desire to make their relationship better because they don’t know where it went wrong. And yet they’re tied together in more ways than one, and Insidious fans know exactly what that means.”

“I love the fact that we were able to bring the original cast back together to bring the Lamberts’ saga to a close,” says producer Jason Blum. “Patrick Wilson and Rose Byrne, of course, but also Ty Simpkins, Lin Shaye, Leigh Whannell, Angus Sampson and Andrew Astor. Getting to see how the cast has aged – especially the actors who were children and have grown into young men – underscores the heart of the story for me: that this is a family finding their way as they move through their lives.” 

 

Reuniting the cast became a central pivot point of Wilson’s direction of the film – his reason for wanting to do it, and later, a driving force in his vision for the film. 

Says Wilson, “I wanted the movie to feel like it closes out the Lambert trilogy – if you’ve seen the first two movies, you get a feeling for them – but I’ve shown it to people who know nothing of the Insidious franchise, and I know, you don’t need to see those movies to understand.”

TOM CRUISE AND CHRISTOPHER MCQUARRIE TEAM UP AGAIN FOR THEIR BIGGEST MISSION YET IN “DEAD RECKONING PART ONE”

  

For the filmmakers of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, the latest installment is a love letter to the whole Mission series. 

“It’s absolutely that,” says Tom Cruise, who reprises his now iconic role of Ethan Hunt in the film, which he also produces. “People who haven't seen the other Missions are going to enjoy this one as a standalone experience. And the people who have seen all the other Missions will have a whole other insight into it. The story we have is very special.”

According to director-producer-writer Christopher McQuarrie, back at the helm to direct his fourth Mission: Impossible movie, the key to crafting that story is the emotion. “Everything that you are seeing in this movie is Tom and I focused on two things simultaneously. There is the action that we owe you because you’re coming to see a Mission: Impossible movie, and there’s the emotion that makes that action worth doing,” he says. 

Dead Reckoning Part One sees Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and his IMF (Impossible Missions Force) team on their most dangerous mission yet – trying to save the world from a mysterious, all-powerful enemy with the power to control the way humanity perceives reality. “The stakes in this story are as global as global stakes get,” notes McQuarrie. 

 

 

It takes as its title an old maritime term. “In navigation, ‘dead reckoning’ is the process by which you calculate your course based solely on your last known position,” McQuarrie says. “You’re essentially flying blind. And that becomes quite the metaphor, not only for Ethan, but for several key characters.”  

This is the first time we’ve ever split a Mission: Impossible story over two movies,” says Cruise of Dead Reckoning, Part One of which opens in cinemas July 12, while Part Two is scheduled for release next year. “It’s something we’ve never attempted before because of the complexity of these stories. The scale of these two movies is epic in every sense.”

Cruise remembers the moment the idea first started forming while he and McQuarrie were shooting another ground-breaking Cruise sequel scripted by McQuarrie, which the two also produced: “We were shooting Top Gun: Maverick and we started to talk about Mission. McQ said, ‘We have to make a back-to-back.’ And that really got me,” Cruise says, “because I’ve never done a back-to-back and I like learning new things. So when he said that it was very much like, ‘Yes, okay…’”

They knew it would be challenging. “But we also knew it would be interesting,” Cruise counters. “I’d wanted to build up this franchise to the stage where we are today, where it’s like, ‘Now I feel that we've earned this moment, to be able to blow it out on this scale.’” 

“We often like to say we’re not competing with anybody but ourselves. We’re looking at the last film and figuring how can we outdo that?,” McQuarrie adds. “The sense of scale becomes bigger with each movie and the sense of limitations becomes that much smaller. You just become a little bit more adventurous every time.”

Why We All Need To Watch ELEMENTAL ?

ELEMENTAL is an original film from Disney and Pixar. A heartwarming movie that tells a beautiful love story while exploring the challenges of immigrants chasing their dreams in a new city or country. The movie features charming leads who bring the characters to life and take us on an emotional journey. Ember (voiced by Leah Lewis), a smart, fiery, and ambitious young girl from the fire family, meets Wade (Mamoudou Athie), a happy-go-lucky boy from the water element. And thus began their adventures and misadventures.   

 

Although the story is quite basic - girl meets boy, their families are poles apart, they cannot be together, etc. Eventually love finds a way, and the filmmakers presented it in a very charming way. There's comedy, drama, family, love, and suspense. And the animation is colorful and creative ! 

 

Overall, ELEMENTAL is an inspiring movie that delivers on both emotional depth and entertainment value.  It beautifully captures the power of love, family, and perseverance.
