In Disney and Pixar’s “Hoppers,” the film features an all-star voice ensemble including Kathy Najimy, Dave Franco, and Meryl Streep, alongside Piper Curda as Mabel, Bobby Moynihan as King George and Jon Hamm as Mayor Jerry Generazzo. Directed by Daniel Chong with an original score by Mark Mothersbaugh and capped off by the end-credits song from SZA called “Save The Day.”

“Project Hail Mary” shines as first reactions call it “the first great blockbuster of 2026”

An early screening of sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary has garnered praise from press and critics, calling the film “imagination unleashed.” Project Hail Mary is the film adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel of the same name. Christopher Miller and Phil Lord co-helm the project as producer and director.

The film stars Ryan Gosling as science teacher Ryland Grace, who wakes up onboard a spacecraft with no memory of his past or how he ended up in space. As he gets his bearings, he deduces that he is on a last-ditch effort to save humanity and the earth from destruction. Project Hail Mary also stars Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, Ken Leung, Liz Kingsman and James Ortiz.

Journalist Liam Crowley got emotional during the early screening of Project Hail Mary, posting, “#ProjectHailMary is perfect. Imagination unleashed even better than I pictured it on the page. How Gosling captivates throughout a largely one-man show is beyond me - your earliest Best Actor contender. & my sweet prince Rocky… tears flowed all third act. What a beautiful display of companionship. Heartwarming. Heartbreaking. And genuinely funny! An absolute must-see theatrical experience. “

Variety Editor Jazz Tangcay also praises Gosling’s performance in the film. “#ProjectHailMary is masterful and so beautifully done. A truly heartwarming story of humanity and friendship. Gizmodo Senior Reporter Germain Lussier also had only praise for the film, writing, “#ProjectHailMary is pure joy. Hilarious, heartfelt, hugely moving, wildly exciting and absolutely beautiful. The 160 minutes go by in an instant as Lord and Miller keep Weir’s narrative moving like a rocket ship. Gosling is better than ever and the Rocky effect and mind blowing.”

Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers tackle the emotional journey of “Reminders of Him” by #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover

A powerful story can only translate to the big screen well with the perfect cast. Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers were personally chosen by author Colleen Hoover to play the main characters, Kenna Rowan and Ledger Ward, in Reminders of Him. The adaptation of her hit novel of the same name also stars Rudy Pankow, Lainey Wilson, Lauren Graham and Bradley Whitford.

Reminders of Him tells the story of Kenna Rowan, who returns to her hometown after a life-altering crash that sends her to prison for seven years. Kenna hopes to rebuild her life and het a chance to see her daughter, Diem, who she has never met before. Diem’s custodial grandparents bar Kenna’s attempts at contacting her daughter, but she finds unexpected compassion in local bar owner Ledger. A story of heartbreak, love, and second chances unfold.

The weight of Kenna’s journey falls squarely on the shoulders of Maika Monroe (Longlegs, The Hand that Rocks the Cradle). Hoover loves the restraint and precision Monroe brings to the role “Maika captured that perfectly in her audition,” co-writer and producer Colleen Hoover says. “She has this incredible ability to hold back until the emotion needs to surface. When it does, it’s beautiful. Even in moments of silence, she is doing so much. I cannot imagine anyone else playing Kenna.” 

Monroe did her research and dove deep into the novel to immerse herself in the role. . “It was incredibly helpful to have the book as a reference,” Monroe says. “There is a level of detail there that you cannot always get from a script. I turned to it often, especially before scenes where Kenna says very little.”

There’s also a distinct personality change that was bookmarked before and after Kenna’s accident, and Monroe had to take that into account in her performance. “Before the accident, she is fun and full of life, and her relationship with Scotty feels easy. Afterward, she is completely changed. That kind of trauma never leaves you. Even in your happiest moments, there is still pain underneath that never fully goes away.” 

Ledger Ward is a former NFL player who comes back to Laramie to help care for Diem, the child of his deceased best friend Scotty. His previous work with HIM places him as a top contender for the role. “Ledger needed to feel believable as a former football player, but also emotionally grounded. Tyriq has that presence. He brings strength, warmth and a surprising sensitivity. He kept rising to the top of every conversation,” says producer Gina Matthews.

Withers felt connected to his character from the start. “What drew me to Ledger was how closely his story mirrors parts of my own life,” Withers says. “He is carrying grief while trying to be strong for everyone around him. There is a weight he does not talk about. Playing him allowed me to explore my own experiences and learn more about how I cope, how I love, and how I move through pain.” 

He was glad to have the guiding hand of Hoover throughout production, and felt that it added to the believability of his character. The creative environment on set reinforced that approach. “Having Colleen there was incredible,” Withers says. “She is open and generous, and that gave me confidence. When the person who created the character tells you, ‘You are Ledger,’ it allows you to trust your instincts completely.”

Literary phenomenon “Reminders of Him” by #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover gets adapted for the big screen

Published in 2022, Colleen Hoover’s Reminders of Him has sold more than six million copies in the United States, and has been translated into forty-five languages. Now, Reminders of Him is transformed into a feature film about motherhood, redemption, and the power of love in overcoming every obstacle. The film is helmed by an all-female filmmaking team, with Vanessa Caswill leading as the director. The screenplay is a collaboration between Lauren Levine and Colleen Hoover, and it stars Maika Monroe, Tyriq Withers, Laren Graham, and Bradley Whitford.

Reminders of Him begins with a perfect outing between Kenna (Maika Monroe), and her boyfriend. A horrible mistake follows that sends Kenna to prison, and released seven years later. The journey of trying to rebuild her life begins, as well as a chance to reunite with her daughter Diem, who she has never known. 

The novel began as a conversation between Colleen Hoover and her younger sister, who was studying prison reform for her graduate work. “We talked a lot about what people go through after they get out,” Hoover says. “She was so passionate about it that it stayed with me. After one of those conversations, I felt compelled to write about a woman whose life is shaped by a tragedy that sends her to prison, and what it means to try to rebuild her life after she is released.” 

The story grew, and soon Kenna Rowan was created, a mother estranged from her daughter by circumstances. Hoover’s own experience as a mother was integral to creating the story. . “My experiences as a mom influenced this story a lot,” Hoover says. “I was immediately drawn to Kenna and her longing to be part of her daughter’s life. I cannot imagine having a child and not being able to be in their life.”

Hoover’s co-writer and producer Lauren Levine saw the potential of Reminders of Him early on, having had an emotional connection to the novel after reading it. “When we worked on Confess, Colleen came to set and immediately stood out for how instinctively she understands film and television,” Levine says. “Every question I asked was met with an answer that pushed the material further. Over time, we developed a great creative shorthand. When I read Reminders of Him, I ended up in a puddle of tears, which does not happen often to me. I called Colleen right away and said, ‘I think this is a movie.”

Levine was right about Hoover’s filmmaking instincts, and the author has also been very involved in the adaptation of her work. “I did not anticipate rewriting as much as I did,” Hoover says. “But being there every day meant I could see immediately when something was not working, or when Vanessa or the actors had questions. We could talk through it and adjust in the moment. That responsiveness became one of the most rewarding parts of the process for me.”

Another important theme of Reminders of Him is the love permeating through different forms, between family, romance, and friends. . “I have always been drawn to stories that tell the truth and still leave room for tenderness,” Hoover says. “Stories that make you feel everything all at once. This one lives in the messiness of love and the aftermath of tragedy, but it also believes in connection. It believes that even when nothing comes easily, people can still find their way back to themselves, and to each other.”

Inspired by Maggie O’Farrell’s acclaimed 2020 historical fiction novel—which imagines the emotional roots behind Shakespeare’s iconic play "Hamlet"—this cinematic adaptation is both intimate and epic in scope. At its heart lies the poignant story of Will and Agnes whose modest life together is brought to vivid life through stunning performances and sensitive direction.

Paul Mescal delivers a quietly affecting turn as Will, but it’s Jesse Buckley who truly commands the screen. Buckley gives what can only be described as the performance of her career; her emotional range—grief-stricken yet resilient—is nothing short of breathtaking. “Descendants/ZOMBIES Worlds Collide: Concert Special” is produced by Fulwell 73 Productions, the acclaimed team behind the EmmyⓇ-nominated Disney concert specials “The Lion King Live at the Hollywood Bowl,” “Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl” and the Emmy Award-winning “Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium.” Gabe Turner, Sally Wood and Lou Fox serve as executive producers, with Paul Dugdale directing. Disney Concerts produced the AEG Presents-promoted live concert tour. Amy Tinkham served as the tour’s creative director, with video direction and choreography by Scotty Nguyen.

A jewel thief, a broker, and a detective. Meet the lineup of characters in “Crime 101,” starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and Mark Ruffalo In PH cinemas Feb 18

 

Fates collide in the high stakes crime thriller Crime 101, starring Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, Mark Ruffalo. An elusive jewel thief prepares for the job of a lifetime, while a disillusioned insurance broker stands at the precipice of her career, and as they cross paths, a detective hot in pursuit gets closer and closer to unraveling who is behind all the high-profile jewel heists along the Southern California coast. Crime 101 is written, directed, and produced by Bart Layton, based on the hit novella of the same name by Don Winslow.

Assembling the perfect cast is akin to planning a flawless heist, and veteran producer Eric Fellner, co-chair of Working Title Films, wanted A-list actors that can pull off the job with the intensity and dedication needed for Crime 101. “You can talk about them being a great cast in terms of their names, but they're also phenomenal actors,” Fellner says. “Every single one of them brings their character into the world beautifully.”

Leading the pack is Chris Hemsworth, who plays Davis, the prolific jewel thief whose life of crime has left him isolated and mistrustful. For this character, Layton and his partner producer Dimitri Doganis took a journalistic approach and interviewed real-life criminals who specialize in pilfering precious jewels.“For us, that isn't unusual. That is absolutely the standard place that one starts building a story. Real people, real experiences,” Doganis says. “Then you make sure that what you are doing really feels like it's anchored in truth. I think that's what we were always struggling for, even with something which is entirely invented. It has to plug into broader truths about who we are and how we live and what we want if it's going to stay with people. Both jewel thieves and the policemen who chased them were really important sources to get certain details.”

Caught in the fallout of Davis’ actions is longtime insurance broker Sharon Coombs, played by Halle Berry. The string of thefts unfortunately coincide with Coombs’ elite clientele, and at a pivotal point in her career, she feels only frustration in her current position. “One of the reasons I was really attracted to this movie when Bart first talked to me was because I think it's very poignant,” Berry says. “It speaks to who we are as women today, and women in midlife, and how we are often discarded and we are devalued. I've been on a tear to bring our second acts to the forefront, because so many of us have struggled in the workplace.”

Working with Hemsworth and Ruffalo is also a treat for Berry, who has nothing but praise for her co-stars. “This is one of the best movie making experiences I've ever had, and that's a lot to say when you've been doing this for 30 years,” Berry says. “But between Chris, Bart and Mark, I have never felt more cared for, more respected, more listened to, and more supported.”

Hot on Davis’ heels is Detective “Lou” Lubesnik, played by Mark Ruffalo. Loyal to the law and obsessed with capturing those that defy it. Ruffalo was excited to land the role, and collaborated heavily with everyone involved to bring Detective Lubesnik to life. “I was really excited about this when it came along,” Ruffalo says. “My talks with Bart were great. There was a lot of back and forth about the character and just how to punch out some of those moral themes to make the suspense better.”

Hemsworth remarks that there’s more in common between their characters, who are in a high stakes game of cat-and-mouse, than one would think. “We see Mark Ruffalo as someone who has never really been given his due or been taken seriously, as he deserves,” Hemsworth says. “There's a slight self-sabotaging nature about the way the character operates. He's kind of at that point in his life where he's asking the question: is this as good as it gets? Have I run my course now or is there more to be had?”
