ZOOTOPIA 2 Review: A Sequel That Delivers on Every Level

By: Edgar Allan E. Yu

“Zootopia 2” returns to the vibrant mammal metropolis with a story that feels both familiar and  ambitious. Judy Hopps  and Nick Wilde remain the heart of the film, their chemistry as sharp and charming as ever. From the opening scenes, the movie re-establishes the humor, warmth, and buddy-cop energy that made the first film so endearing.

The plot takes Judy and Nick into new districts and subcultures of Zootopia, expanding the world in visually rich and imaginative ways. The animation is even more polished this time around, with action scenes that are faster, smoother, and more cinematic. Kids will enjoy the wild chases and colorful characters, while adults will catch the layered humor tucked in each environment.

“Zootopia 2” delves into ideas about trust, media influence, and the tension between personal freedom and community responsibility.  This film succeeds as an entertaining, heartfelt sequel that balances humor, heart, and timely messages. Fans of the original will find plenty to love, and newcomers will enjoy a smart, fun adventure that stands confidently on its own.

Freddy and the gang are spreading fear on a whole new level in “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2,” starring Josh Hutcherson, McKenna Grace, and Matthew Lillard

In PH cinemas Dec 3

Freddy’s back and he’s bringing more friends in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, the sequel to the 2023 box-office horror phenomenon based on the hit game series by Scott Cawthon. Animatronic horror gets on a whole new level with iconic Freddy Fazbear nightmares debuting on the big screen.

As the first Five Nights at Freddy’s became a box office sensation, earning nearly $300 million worldwide, producer Jason Blum credits the success to the careful collaboration with original creator Scott Cawthon. “Scott Cawthon is one of the most thoughtful creators I have ever worked with,” Blum says. “He is deeply involved in every part of Five Nights at Freddy’s—the strategy, the business and the creative decisions. What really sets him apart is how connected he is to the fan community. He is constantly thinking about what will surprise them, what will make them happy, and how to honor what they love about the franchise.”

Check out the new clip: https://youtu.be/bOVA1pXQlN8

In Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, former night shift security guard Mike (Josh Hutcherson)) and his sister Abby (Piper Rubio) are still reeling from the nightmare unleashed at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza. When Abby sneaks out to reconnect with the haunted animatronics Freddy, Bonnie, Chica and Foxy, a dark series of events unfold, and the mystery surrounding the origin of Freddy’s come screaming into the light.

As with Cawthon’s original vision, and how his storytelling unveils lore throughout the series, returning director Emma Tammi wanted to pay tribute by connecting each movie to corresponding games in the Five Nights at Freddy’s line. “Scott always envisioned that if there were multiple films, each would connect to its corresponding game: the first film to game one, the second to game two, and so on,” Tammi says. “So, we already had a clear blueprint of what needed to be included, from the setting to the animatronics. Beyond that, it was about blending those game elements with our ongoing story and figuring out how our characters’ arcs would evolve alongside them. It was a balance between honoring the game and deepening the emotional journey of the characters.”

The element of horror that comes from the animatronics is vital to the film, so they return to Jim Henson’s Creature Shop and spent half a year refining the new lineup of unsettling characters for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. With three times the amount of animatronics as the first film, long-time fans can expect some favorites making their big-screen debut.

The sequel also broadens the scope in which the film is set. Out of the pizzeria, the animatronics can be free to unleash horror unlike audiences and fans have seen before. “It was only a matter of time before the animatronics had to leave the pizzeria,” Tammi says. “In the sequel, we meet them in a new location, which is exciting on its own, but then gets even more thrilling when they break out into the real world. Seeing them in everyday settings is both hilarious and terrifying. Staging those moments was one of my favorite parts of making this film.”

This reimagined idea for Five NIghts at Freddy’s 2 transforms the franchise to leave fans with surprises, but keeps its identity solidly in what the game franchise stands for. “We are building on everything that connected with fans the first time, but we are also taking risks,” Tammi says. “It is sharper, scarier and more unpredictable, and every choice was made to pull the audience deeper into this world.”

Hang out with Freddy and friends if you dare as Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 arrives in Philippine cinemas on December 3. Follow Universal Pictures PH (FB), UniversalPicturesPH (IG), and UniversalPicsPH (TikTok) for the latest updates.

PCX Celebrates 16 Philippine Companies for 100% Plastic Footprint Recovery

 Press Release

PCX Markets recently held their PULSE event, where they honored 16 Philippine organizations that have committed to achieving 100% recovery of their plastic footprint for 2025, marking a significant step toward responsible production and sustainable practices.

From everyday packaging to industrial waste, the world has produced more than 9 billion tons of plastic, far more than our planet can handle. Of all the plastic ever made, only about 9% of plastic waste is recycled, 19% incinerated, and 72% landfilled, openly burned, or ends up in the environment. In response, PCX is taking accountability for plastic waste and working to reduce the harmful impacts of the plastic pollution crisis. Guided by its mission to ensure no plastic ends up in nature, PCX is driving the nation’s shift toward a circular economy where plastic is recovered and re-circulated as useful materials through reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture, recycling and more.

With the passage of the Republic Act No. 11898 or the Extended Producers Responsibility (EPR) Act of 2022, large companies in the Philippines are required to take responsibility for the post-consumer management of their plastic packaging waste.

Through PCX, Obliged Enterprises are fulfilling their obligations to collect and responsibly process the plastic packaging waste they put out into the market. PCX Markets works hand-in-hand with PCX Solutions to provide end-to-end EPR compliance support, from footprint accounting to implementation and reporting, empowering companies to design effective reduction and recovery strategies and meet EPR Law requirements.

This year, the organizations that have committed to achieve the equivalent of 100% plastic recovery of their plastic packaging footprint for the compliance year 2025 include Beko Pilipinas Corporation, Century Pacific Food, Inc., Concepcion Durables, Inc., Concepcion Midea, Inc., Concepcion-Carrier Air Conditioning Company, Concepcion Industrial Corporation - Cortex Technologies Corporation, Domino’s Pizza Philippines, Generation Hope, Inc. (HOPE), General Odyssey, Inc., L’Oréal Philippines Inc., Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation, Monde Nissin Corporation, Mondelez Philippines, Inc.,

Mr. DIY, The Pacific Meat Company Incorporated, and Wild Flour Bakery + Cafe Corp., modeling the kind of leadership and action we need to see more broadly across the private sector to tackle this urgent challenge.

“The leaders we honored today show that responsible action is possible. When companies commit to verified recovery of 100% of their plastic footprint, we can turn the tide on plastic waste and create lasting impact for people and planet,” said Ms. Nanette Medved Po, Founder and Executive Chair of HOPE and PCX.

PCX Markets offers an end-to-end suite of plastic responsibility tools, including packaging EPR compliance software, verified resins, and a transparent platform for purchasing verified plastic credits that fund the collection, transport, and responsible processing of plastic waste to help companies achieve their plastic recovery goals.

Last year, PCX Markets successfully enabled the diversion of 160 million kilograms of plastic waste from around the world, through 44 projects and 238 companies in 14 countries, including the Philippines.

Jobstreet by SEEK empowers entrepreneurs at the MSME Summit addresses talent crisis, free job posting opportunities

PRESS RELEASE

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) remain the backbone of the economy, comprising 99.5% of all registered businesses in the Philippines and creating 6 out of every 10 jobs*. While MSMEs offer vital contributions and express readiness to grow, many of them still face barriers, with talent crisis emerging as one of their biggest growth challenges.

In a survey conducted by Boston Consulting Group and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in 2024, 72% of MSME respondents said they want to expand their workforce; 82% want to upskill their current employees. However, the same survey revealed that 46% are experiencing a talent crisis—high demand, but hard to find quality candidates.

In line with its commitment to equipping not just Filipino jobseekers but also business owners, Jobstreet by SEEK rolled out its MSME Summit, an initiative aimed at empowering them to grow, compete, and thrive in a dynamic business landscape.

In partnership with SM for MSMEs, the event at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall brought together MSME owners and industry leaders to discuss key challenges, opportunities, and strategies to growing your business, and make the hiring process easier and safer in finding the right candidates for their businesses.

The MSME Summit was organized to equip MSME owners with the knowledge and tools to strengthen their business operations through workshops and learning sessions about marketing, logistics, digital platforms, and finance from different business and marketing thought leaders.

“Jobstreet by SEEK believes that every thriving economy is built on the shoulders of its resilient and growing MSMEs. By empowering them through events like the MSME Summit, we’re not only helping their businesses grow and connecting them with the right talent but also fueling job creation and strengthening the local employment,” said Dannah Majarocon, Jobstreet by SEEK’s Managing Director in the Philippines.

Free job posting on a legitimate job platform

To help minimize talent crisis among MSMEs, Jobstreet by SEEK urged business owners to utilize legitimate job platforms, as hiring scams continue to rise on social media platforms. Hiring platforms not only protect your business and reputation but also ensure that you reach the right and active jobseekers seeking opportunities.

To start with, MSME owners may take the first step in looking for candidates through its “SMEasy sa Jobstreet” initiative. This highlights its free and user-friendly job posting feature, making it easier for MSME owners to post a job ad on the job platform, with the potential of reaching thousands of talents from its nearly 14-million candidate user base nationwide.

For more information about Jobstreet by SEEK’s efforts for MSMEs, visit jobstreet.com.ph or their official Facebook page @JobstreetPH.
