Ayala Malls Cinemas unleashes a new tale of terror with the exclusive release of “Obsession”

Arrives in the PH May 27 with Early Access Screenings on May 23

Ayala Malls Cinemas expands its roster of curated, world-class exclusive titles with critically acclaimed, original horror film Obsession. The movie is directed by a new voice in horror, Curry Barker, who went viral for his 2024 found footage horror film Milk & Serial. Obsession is a story of a hopeless romantic, who in a desperate bid to capture the heart of the girl he likes, makes a wish on a kitschy “One Wish Willow” toy. He finds himself getting exactly what he needs, but soon discovers that wishes can come with a dark, sinister price.

Director Baker shares his motivation for weaving this dark story for the big screen. “With Obsession, I wanted to tell a story about how far someone’s fixation on another person can go. At what point does something we call love stop being love? And beyond that, what does the word “love” even mean?”

Baker also wants his film to leave a lasting impression on the viewers, stating, “I want people leaving the theater still talking - arguing over how they felt, what they would have done differently, and whether what they saw was love or obsession.”

HOPE Wins Prestigious Global and Regional Awards for its "Generation HOPE" Initiative

 PRESS RELEASE

HOPE, a pioneering impact organization and the Philippines' first Certified B Corp, has been recognized on the global stage for its Generation HOPE campaign, securing two major industry accolades for its commitment to Philippine education. The initiative was honored with the 2026 Global Gold Quill Award for Nonprofit Sector Communication from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) and the NGO and Charity Award from the Public Relations and Communications Association Asia-Pacific (PRCA APAC) Awards 2026.

The Generation HOPE campaign was launched in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) and seven founding partners to address the critical classroom gap in the Philippines. By transforming everyday consumer choices into direct investments in public school infrastructure, the campaign empowered Filipinos to participate in nation-building through simple, daily transactions.

The campaign's success was driven by a diverse group of brand partners who integrated social impact into their core offerings. BDO launched the HOPE Mastercard, which matched a PHP5 donation from BDO for every PHP 1,000 spent, while Grab introduced the "Grab HOPE Hour", which raised donations with every ride and order placed. Retail and lifestyle partners also played a pivotal role: SM Supermalls donated PHP 5 from every movie ticket sold with "HOPE in a Movie," Penshoppe released a dedicated HOPE apparel collection, and Sunnies Studios commemorated their 10-classroom donation with limited-edition flask and cleaning lens designs. Rounding out the initiative, Carmen's Best offered "HOPE in a Scoop"  and “HOPE in a Pint”, where each ice cream purchase directly supports HOPE, and The Aivee Clinic launched a signature Aivee x HOPE Travel Tote with proceeds supporting the cause.

Generation HOPE merchandise and programs launched in 2025, together with partner brands

In 2025 alone, HOPE funded the construction of 25 classrooms across the country. The organization has built 167 classrooms since it was founded in 2012 and has directly benefited over 53,000 students who previously faced overcrowded and under-resourced learning environments.

Recent milestones include the turnover of two fully equipped classrooms by Sunnies Studios in Alitagtag, Batangas, and the groundbreaking of five new classrooms by Penshoppe in Paombong, Bulacan. Other ongoing projects include developments in Albay, Pampanga, and across Negros Occidental and Oriental.

"These awards are a testament to the power of collective action. We believe that everyone has the capacity to give HOPE, and by partnering with brands that choose to invest in public school education, we've shown the power of Business for Good. Our goal was to make it easy for every Filipino to contribute to nation-building through education—whether by simply buying a t-shirt, booking a ride, or watching a movie. Seeing that vision turn into new classrooms our students can use is just the beginning of what we can achieve together," said Nanette Medved-Po, HOPE Chairperson and Founder.

COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises, a global award-winning communications group, serves as HOPE’s official PR and communications partner for the Generation HOPE campaign.

The Philippines ranks 2nd in workplace happiness, Jobstreet by SEEK reports

Purpose at work seen as main driver

77% of Filipino employees shared that they are “extremely happy” (33%) or “somewhat happy” (44%) in their workplace

Filipino employees are reportedly the second-happiest at work, next to Indonesia in the Asia-Pacific region, according to the latest Workplace Happiness Index: Philippines 2025 by Jobstreet by SEEK.

Leading online career platform Jobstreet by SEEK conducted a region-wide survey from October to November 2025, with over 10,500 employed individuals across the Asia-Pacific, of whom 1,000 were Filipino workers aged 18 to 64 nationwide. The report highlights workers’ evolving preference for the importance of work purpose, personal wellbeing, and career growth alongside salary and flexibility.

The report shows 77% of Filipino workers said they are somewhat or extremely happy at work, placing the Philippines among the happiest workforces in the region, following Indonesia at 82%. This happiness is largely driven by a strong sense of purpose, with employees valuing meaningful work and alignment with company goals more than monetary compensation alone.

In terms of happiness at work by region, respondents in Visayas were found to be the happiest (82%), followed by NCR (77%), while Luzon and Mindanao tied last (76%). Interestingly, happiness at work is similar across Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao, suggesting that workers in the Philippines are broadly united in their sentiment towards workplace happiness.

Drivers of happiness at work

Jobstreet by SEEK’s latest findings highlighted that Filipino workers are now looking beyond compensation and hybrid work setups. Employees increasingly associate their workplace happiness with their sense of purpose, learning and development opportunities, and day-to-day responsibilities.

The latest report found that 77% of respondents feel valued at work, while 74% described their jobs as fulfilling, revealing widespread positivity and satisfaction within the workplace.

While salary remained the top factor to attract and retain employees, purpose at work—how their work contributes to the overall company and personal goals—has a stronger impact on overall engagement and personal satisfaction, the report reveals.

Career progression also emerged as a major factor influencing retention, with 55% of respondents saying they think about changing careers somewhat or extremely often. Employees dissatisfied with career progression opportunities were significantly more likely to consider leaving their jobs, which is a key factor in considering clear development pathways among hirers.

Silent struggles among Filipino workers

Despite broad happiness levels, Jobstreet by SEEK reports that stress and burnout are having an impact on workers. Only two in five (41%) report being in control of their stress levels, while 38% said they are burnt out or extremely exhausted with their jobs.

Meanwhile, concerns surrounding artificial intelligence continue to emerge across industries, with 41% of workers expressing concern about AI’s potential impact on their jobs. Although job security is not heavily emphasized in driving happiness, these are potential challenges that companies may want to watch for as workplaces advance.

“The report only shows how employee preferences are evolving and how their work environment shapes their overall happiness and sense of purpose. Jobstreet by SEEK, through this study, seeks to empower hirers in navigating these shifts and creating workplaces that foster talent engagement and long-term growth,” shared Dannah Majarocon, Managing Director of Jobstreet by SEEK in the Philippines.

Overall, workers who feel happy in their roles are nearly twice as likely to feel motivated to go above and beyond for their employer. This reveals that when businesses put employee happiness at the heart of their culture, they’re rewarded with greater engagement, productivity, and retention.

Meet the Heroes of Eternia who joins forces with the legendary He–Man in “Masters of the Universe”

 COLUMBIA PICTURES

New featurette available!

Dian (Christiaan Bettridge), Ram Man (Jon Xue Zhang), Teela (Camila Mendes), Adam (Nicholas Galitzine), Man at Arms (Idris Elba), Fisto (Johannes Haukur Johannesson) in Masters of the Universe

A prince far from his homeworld, with a few faces from the past to bring him back. In Masters of the Universe, Prince Adam (Nicholas Galitzine) grows up on Earth, having been sent there from Eternia for his own safety. As he grows to adulthood, familiar friends call upon him to wield the Sword of Power, and claim his destiny as He-Man, the most powerful man in the universe. Meet the heroes of Eternia who fight alongside He-Man against the evil forces of Skeletor (Jared Leto).

Watch the “Heroes of Eternia” vignette: https://youtu.be/VvPxI2YcTUE

Camila Mendes stars as Teela in Masters of the Universe

One of the first people to call on him was Teela (Camila Mendes), a former student turned warrior goddess with special insights into the power of Grayskull. Along with her father, Man-At-Arms, they’ve been a force to be reckoned with back in Eternia, ruled by the tyrant Skeletor. “Teela is independent and self-sufficient. She had to grow up fast after her father sort of gave up on life a little bit,” Mendes says. “She had to toughen up and look after herself, in addition to looking after her father. I think she's been hardened by that experience. But deep down, she has this inner sensitivity and really deep empathy.”

Idris Elba stars as Man-At-Arms in Masters of the Universe

Teela’s father, Duncan, a.k.a. Man-At-Arms, is also an important figure in Adam’s past. The powerful warrior served under Adam’s father, King Randor, and currently leads the fight against Skeletor. Idris Elba, who plays Man-At-Arms, has been a longtime fan of Masters of the Universe, and is hoping to pass the magic on to the new generation. “Everyone wanted to be He-Man,” he recalls. “It's a massive slice of nostalgia and just being a part of it as an actor feels like an honor. I've got my son who's young and into it as well. So passing that on, and being in a film that he might want to see feels good.”

He-Man’s other allies are veteran warriors that have existed as memories from his childhood. One of them is the headstrong Ram Man, played by Jon Xue Zhang. “Ram Man is often described as the human battering ram,” Zhang says. “He's got springs for legs. He's very strong and he has a propensity for using his head to resolve problems. It may not be in the most intelligent way, but it's certainly the most direct way.”

Mekaneck, played by James Wilkinson, lengthens his already towering height by his odd, extendable neck. “He had this crazy-bad injury with his neck,” Wilkinson explains. “Man-At-Arms did a bunch of work on him and he then got this superpower of an extendable neck. Now he uses it to protect other people. So he had this tragic accident and then decided to help people.”

Fisto is not actually named that, but young Adam bestowed the nickname upon Malcom due to his prosthetic iron hand. “Fisto and Man-At-Arms, they're brothers. And my character saved his life in battle, but lost an arm in the process. So, Man-At-Arms builds him this fist,” explains Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, who plays Fisto.

Watch these heroes fight against the ultimate evil as Masters of the Universe arrives in Philippine cinemas on June 3.

Citizen COMCO Reinforces its Advocacy Mission with the Launch of Camp COMCO Kids

 PRESS RELEASE

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, global award-winning communications group COMCO Mundo League of Enterprises rolled out Citizen COMCO in full force through the inaugural Camp COMCO Kids at Asociacion de Damas de Filipinas, Inc., welcoming its first batch of learners.

Citizen COMCO, COMCO Mundo’s advocacy arm, champions advocacy work for youth and education; wildlife and environment; heritage and culture; social enterprise; and borderless collaboration. Strengthening its advocacy for youth and education is Camp COMCO Kids, a learning camp for children developed in collaboration with COMCO School of Communications’ Camp COMCO Mentorship Program, its flagship talent incubation initiative, industry linkage course, and apprenticeship program. It carries the same values-driven approach in molding the next generation of storytellers, redesigned for younger learners.

Built on a three-pronged approach, Camp COMCO Kids expands its impact through Camp COMCO Kids Special, designed for community-based engagement; Camp COMCO Kids Prime, a full workshop experience where children can become “COMCOys for a day”; and Camp COMCO Kids Edutainment Content, which delivers fun and educational materials tailored for young audiences.

Citizen COMCO recently held its first-ever Camp COMCO Kids Special at Asociacion de Damas de Filipinas, Inc., a community extension facility in Paco, Manila that nurtures abandoned, neglected, and vulnerable children with love and quality care. Currently, the organization supports community children aged 2 to 14 through milk and supplemental feeding programs, outreach initiatives, apostolate activities, and meaningful community celebrations.

The day featured a series of fun and meaningful activities aligned with the mission of Camp COMCO Kids: to help children develop creativity, communication, teamwork, and social awareness through engaging, age-appropriate activities centered on storytelling, media literacy, and community values. Adapted from the Camp COMCO approach, the children were grouped into four houses, namely House Bearcat, House Flying Fox, House Whale Shark, and House Hawksbill, fostering teamwork and collaboration throughout the program.

Each house was brought to life by the Camp COMCO Kids characters, embodying a diverse range of interests. Bobby the Bearcat thrives in sports and outdoor adventures; Farrah the Flying Fox brings a passion for music, theater, and dance; Howie the Hawksbill explores tech, games, crafts, and creations; and Wilma the Whale Shark is driven by a love for creative writing and visual arts.

With the support and guidance of members of Camp COMCO Alumni Society and the COMCO Squadron, the team created a lively and engaging space for learning. Through fun, interactive session and meaningful discussion on important Filipino values, children were encouraged to grow into responsible and caring members of their families, schools, communities, and country.

A key highlight of the camp was the role-playing activity, where participants were introduced to basic acting skills and tasked with creatively acting out scenarios anchored in Filipino values. With the help of their house stewards, assistant stewards and guest stewards from Camp COMCO Alumni Society, the children showcased enthusiasm and creativity, bringing their lessons to life.

The energy continued with lively games such as the Calamansi Relay and the classic Filipino game tumbang preso (Knock Down the Prisoner), filling the space with cheers and excitement. Winners and participants alike were rewarded with prizes, making the experience even more memorable for everyone.

“I would like to thank everyone for being part of Camp COMCO Kids,” said COMCO Mundo Interregional President & Group Chief Executive and Head of Global & Strategic Communications / Partner & Co-Founder, Mr. Ferdinand Bondoy. “This is our first Camp COMCO Kids, and you are our very first batch. We’re excited to see how you grow and hope to see you become storytellers like us in COMCO Mundo one day,” he said.

Citizen COMCO has also long been at the forefront of advocacy, spearheading initiatives that create meaningful impact. Through programs such as COMCOlidays with Kids, it brings joy and holiday cheer to underserved communities, while also extending support during challenging times through outreach efforts for typhoon and earthquake victims and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the years, Citizen COMCO has partnered with like-minded organizations such as Called to Rescue, Make-A-Wish, Philippine Eagle Foundation, Save the Children, SOS Chidlren’s Villages, World Vision, and WWF. It also champions Filipino identity through language, history, and culture through its multimedia platform, Baybayin HARIYANAS (Haring Bayang PILIPINAS – PInagbuklod ng Liping NAgtaguyod sa Siniliangan - a nation formed by the people who fought for the homeland). This year, it continues its mission with the launch of For Tribe to Thrive, a social impact initiative aimed at uplifting and empowering indigenous communities across the Philippines.

Every line will be crossed. New poster released for “Scary Movie” - only in cinemas JUNE 10

 PARAMOUNT PICTURES

We know you’ve been waiting for this one. In the new Scary Movie, Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans re-join Anna Faris and Regina Hall in the popular movie series for the first time in 25 years. Also starring Kenan Thompson, Damon Wayans Jr., Sydney Park and more, Scary Movie opens in the Philippines only in cinemas June 10.

Official synopsis:

Twenty-six years after outrunning a suspiciously familiar masked killer (“Ghostface”), the Core Four are back in the killer’s crosshairs and no horror movie IP is safe. Marlon Wayans (“Shorty”), Shawn Wayans (“Ray”), Anna Faris (“Cindy”), and Regina Hall (“Brenda”) reunite in Scary Movie alongside returning favorites and fresh faces to slash through reboots, remakes, requels, prequels, sequels, spin-offs, elevated horror, origin stories, anything with the word legacy in it, and every “final chapter” that absolutely isn’t final. Nothing is sacred. No trope survives. Every line gets crossed. The Wayans are back to cancel the Cancel Culture.
