RED ONE - That Holiday Movie with a Runaway Budget of $250 Million

When it comes to holiday films, RED ONE offers a somewhat unique twist that blends lots of action with some good laughs and plenty of CGI. The standout performance comes from JK Simmons, who takes on the role of a modern Santa—fit, agile, and riding a high-tech sleigh that adds an exciting flair to the traditional character. Dwayne Johnson is, as always, playing Dwayne Johnson. While Chris Evans plays a smart-ass character, who he also plays in other movies, outside Marvel. I would love to see both of them tackle different roles. 

The production budget is a staggering $250 Million, which is way too much for a film originally intended for streaming. You would wonder - Where did all the money go ? I read somewhere that this is due to the Writers strike and Actors strike which happened in 2023. Others say it's due to The Rock's tardiness on set. 

Overall, while RED ONE may not be groundbreaking or award-winning material, it certainly isn’t terrible either; it’s serviceable enough to keep audiences entertained. Kids will undoubtedly enjoy the spectacle and humor sprinkled throughout the film. If you’re looking for something lighthearted this holiday season that combines festive elements with action-packed sequences, RED ONE could be just what you need to add some cheer to your viewing lineup.
