THE RUNNING MAN Film Review: Glen Powell goes all-out to prove he is Hollywood's Next Big Movie Star

By: Edgar Allan E. Yu

Ben Richards is down on his luck and desperate to save his sick daughter, but nothing prepares him—or the audience—for the wild ride that unfolds in THE RUNNING MAN. Forced into a deadly reality show where survival means outlasting 30 days while being hunted by ruthless professional assassins, Ben’s journey is a pulse-pounding spectacle from start to finish.

Glen Powell shines in the lead role, using every ounce of his charm, charisma, and undeniable acting talent to stake his claim as Hollywood’s next big movie star. It’s clear he took Tom Cruise’s advice on how to run cinematically—every chase scene is both thrilling and visually stunning. Powell commands the screen with an energy that makes you root for Ben at every turn.

The supporting cast elevates the film even further: Josh Brolin brings gravitas and cunning as the manipulative TV producer orchestrating the chaos behind the scenes, while Colman Domingo delivers a magnetic performance as the show’s vibrant host. Both actors add layers of complexity and intensity that keep viewers focused on the big screen.

While this may not be Director Edgar Wright’s very best work, it still bursts with his signature blend of great action sequences, sharp humor, and wildly inventive set pieces. THE RUNNING MAN doesn’t just entertain—it gives audiences a reason to cheer at every twist and turn. For those seeking fun times at the cinema filled with adrenaline-fueled antics and memorable performances, this film absolutely delivers !
