September 17, 2026 – Resident Evil had a monstrous opening day in the Philippines, grossing PHP 10,427,530 nationwide. This marks the biggest opening day for the Resident Evil franchise.
The film officially dethroned Insidious: Out of the Further, breaking the horror film’s four-week streak as the biggest film in the country.

The film also boasts a 97% certified fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, with the critics deeming “Not only are some calling this easily the best Resident Evil movie, but also one of the best films based on a video game ever.”
The Wrap calls Resident Evil “Zach Cregger’s best film” yet, writing, “An incredible movie, Austin Abrams is an incredible leading man, and Zach Cregger cements his credibility as a modern master of horror.”
Deadline praises Austin Abram’s performance, calling his acting in the film “His star-is-born breakout role.”
