The Good
SHAZAM ! FURY OF THE GODS has a good mix of drama, humor, fantasy, and action. There are plenty of intense fight scenes and the CGI are top-notch. The daughters of Atlas are formidable. I love the scenes where the Shazam family are fighting together or just hanging out in their lair - the Rock Of Eternity. Jack Dylan Grazer and Djimon Hounsou were given plenty of screen time. And that cameo near the end sure made the audience cheer and grin from ear to ear.
The Bad
Although I still enjoyed Zachary Levi's portrayal of a man-child superhero, he comes off as childish. While Asher Angel as the kid Billy Batson is more reserved and quite mature. They don't seem to be the same person. And he's growing up fast, turning 18 soon ! Hespera and Kalypso (Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu) are both powerful, yet forgettable. They could have been played by other actors just as well. The post credit scene is a repetition of the one in the first movie. And we're not sure if we will ever see Mr. Mind and Doctor Sivana again.
The Verdict
SHAZAM 2 delivers something for everyone. From the fans of drama, fantasy, and action, to those who just enjoy a great movie. The story is enriching and compelling, the action scenes are sure to excite, and the humor will keep you in stitches. SHAZAM 2 is truly an enjoyable and worthwhile experience for all. I really hope that it will find its audience, and people will appreciate what it has to offer.
