The latest installment in the Alien franchise, "Alien Romulus," has breathed new life into the iconic sci-fi horror series. With its dark, gruesome, and gritty tone, the film masterfully captures the essence of what made the original Alien movies so captivating.
One of the standout elements of "Alien Romulus" is the talented young cast, who bring a fresh energy to the franchise. Their performances, combined with the abundance of terrifying facehuggers and xenomorphs, create a sense of imminent danger that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. And the one who's got the best story arc is the artificial being called Andy.
The film's standout scene, specifically the no gravity sequence, set in the eerie weightlessness of space, is a true highlight, showcasing the directors' ability to craft suspenseful and visually stunning set pieces. And the third act, where they introduced that unsettling humanoid creature only adds to the overall sense of unease and dread that permeates the entire film. The use of practical special effects mixed with some CGI is also noteworthy, as it made the film more believable.
Overall, "Alien Romulus" is a must-see for fans of the Alien franchise, as it expertly blends the best elements of the past with a bold new direction that is sure to captivate audiences. The Director, Fede Alvarez, is clearly a huge fan and he gave proper homage to the previous films. Now it's time for me to rewatch all the past Alien films.
