I remember watching MOANA in 2016, and really enjoyed it ! Can't believe it's been eight years already. Fast forward to 2024, and now we have MOANA 2. Here we find our beloved heroine stepping into her role as a leader. Moana embarks on an adventurous quest to locate a far-away island, aiming to reconnect her people with the ocean’s bounty. The animation is nothing short of visually stunning, showcasing the vibrant colors and breathtaking landscapes that fans have come to adore.
While the songs in this installment are quite good, they don't quite reach the iconic heights of those from the first film. However, they still add charm and joy to Moana's journey. The new crew members bring some humor to the story, although it feels like their potential was underutilized as they had nothing much to offer. But I did enjoy the Kakamora.
The movie truly gains momentum during its third act when Moana and Maui reunite. Their chemistry is undeniable, every moment they share is magical! It's clear that their dynamic is a highlight of the film, and one can’t help but wish for even more scenes featuring this iconic duo.
Overall, "Moana 2" remains an enjoyable experience that children will undoubtedly love. Contrary to some critics' harsh judgments labeling it as terrible or unworthy, I believe this sequel holds its own merit. It may not eclipse its predecessor entirely, but it certainly provides a delightful continuation of Moana's adventures that deserves appreciation rather than disdain.
