"The Lord of the Rings : The War of the Rohirrim" transports us nearly 200 years before the iconic events of "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, diving into the rich lore surrounding King Helm Hammerhand and his family as they face off against a relentless army of Dunlendings. The film's anime style of animation is striking, bringing a fresh aesthetic to Middle-earth that captivates viewers from the very first frame. The action scenes are nothing short of spectacular, showcasing intense battles that will make you want to be part of the scenes.
Hera, the daughter of King Helm, is an interesting character. She is supposedly the fastest rider in Rohan, and she's an expert when it comes to sword fights. But we only know so little about her. Other new characters, like Hera's brothers and cousins were introduced, but their story were never developed. Leaving us wondering what could have been.
Despite these visual triumphs and thrilling moments, the story itself falls short. It feels average and predictable, lacking the depth and complexity that fans have come to expect from Tolkien's universe. . If only more focus had been placed on King Helm's character development and his struggles—this could have transformed what we see into an epic tale worthy of its legendary backdrop. While "The War of the Rohirrim" offers impressive visuals and exhilarating action, it ultimately leaves us wanting more substance in its storytelling.
