JURASSIC WORLD : FALLEN KINGDOM
It's been three years since we last saw these dinosaurs. The Jurassic World park has been destroyed, and the dinos were left by humans to fend for themselves. Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) were hired to go back to Isla Nublar to save the remaining dinosaurs before an active volcano erupts and destroys the whole island. But alas, there's a hidden agenda in saving the extinct animals.
This is the fifth in the Jurassic series, but there's still plenty of action and adventure with these prehistoric creatures. And there's more terrifying scenes ! Finally the dinos are off the island.
Chris Pratt brings the same charm and swagger in most of his film, while Bryce Dallas Howard is more likable here. Funny how the camera focused on her heals on her very first scene. New characters Dr. Zia, the techie boy Franklin, and the little girl Maisie are good additions to the franchise. Fans of the original trilogy would be thrilled to see Jeff Goldblum's Dr. Ian Malcolm. But he wasn't given much to do except for a short cameo.
All-in-all this is an enjoyable film that has plenty of action pieces and horror scenes. Stay for the post-credit scene where they'll take the dinos for Jurassic World 3. Co-written by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly. Directed by J. A. Bayona. Rated PG-13.
